        Oral and Video Interviews

        Christian Timmerer interviewed Niklaus Wirth (together with Klagenfurt University professor Laszlo Böszörmenyi) for the IEEE Computer Society. This resulted in a three part video:

        Part 1: Wirth discusses the early days of his career and his influences;

        Part 2: Wirth reflects on how PCs increased interest in Pascal and takes us behind the scenes to the fierce — and sometimes violent — debates over early computer languages' development.

        Part 3: Wirth and Laszlo Böszörmenyi discuss whether universities should still teach compilers and share some words of wisdom for students and programmers.

        These videos may be accessed here.

        Author Charles Severance provides an audio recording of his Computing Conversations column, discussing his interview with Niklaus Wirth. This episode comes from the July 2012 issue of Computer and is available here.
